About

The Site
How many accounts do you own on the internet? If you're like me you probably don't know that answer because it's too many to count. This site was created because I wanted to store color palettes for the various pieces of work that either I've done already or I'm currently doing without having to create another account at some fly-by-night website.

As a person works on a website they have to constantly refer back to color swatches to pull the color value either for CSS or for artwork. In the past I've used various different solutions to store these color values; however, each solution seemed to have it's own issues. If you store your palettes in a text editor then you aren't able to visualize the color itself. If you create an image with blocks of colors and their values then you can't copy-and-paste the values into another application. For each of the aforementioned "solutions" you need to have another application running just to retrieve color information. Lastly, if you don't store a color palette online it can be a pain to share with a friend or associate.

With poundcolor.com it is a bit different. You can visually see the color swatches, and you can copy-and-paste the color values. You don't need to have another application open for web development because chances are you already have a browser window open. Also, once you have a palette created you can email the web address to a friend or associate for sharing. All this without having to create another account.

The Charities
I told myself a little while back that if my business ever made any money that half of the profit would go to charity. This is exactly what I plan to do with poundcolor.com. This website is funded by ads and donations. It is very important to keep costs down on the site itself to maximize the amount of money the site can provide to charity.

The way this works is that I'll choose a single charity for donations until a certain monetary goal is reached. At that point, I'll switch charities and set a new target goal, and so-on. Below is a list of the charities and goals that I'll be cycling through for the first time. Once I make a donation I'll update this page to show the progress of donations.
  1. Hospice - Goal $1,000 [Current]
  2. Victory Junction Gang - Goal $500
  3. The Humane Society of the United States - Goal $250
